A few seasons back, the runway was dominated by nude makeup and then came the gothic look and this season seems to be all about sparkling and glittering lips. At the recent fashion week at Mumbai, we witnessed this burgeoning trend taking shape. Designer Tarun Tahiliani’s show featured models who were clad in a boho chic attire with glitter lips. Natasha Nischol, makeup artist for Tarun Tahiliani’s show went for deep oxblood lip shade, peping up with glitter effect.
During the Atelier Versace show held in July, American model Bella Hadid strode down the runway with her shimmering wine red lips. It was an instant hit. Maison Margiela’s also featured models who were exhibiting the glitter strewn lips. And soon, it became a fashion statement and sparkle lips began making a bold statement. A few seasons back, designer Namrata Joshipura also opted for this trend. At the MTV VMA’s, even English model Naomi Campbell donned a playful red lip with swatches of glitter over it.
To do the best job at a sparkle lip style, Ishika Taneja suggests, “Apply your favourite shade of lipstick and then use a glitter filled gloss over it. You can also add glitter to the lips and remove the excess with a blotting paper.”
