Beautiful, shiny and healthy hair is every girl’s dream. But hair fall is a terrible problem a lot of us face. Loosing hair on a regular basis can be a very distressing experience. The reasons for hair fall can be lack of essential nutrients in the body, excessive use of chemicals through hair coloring and hair styling treatments, unhealthy dietary problems, hormonal imbalances dandruff and other scalp disorders, stress and tension etc.
Scroll down to read our suggestions for ways to deal with hair fall.

1. Using a wide-toothed comb

Use a wide-toothed comb to gently untangle your hair. After untangling is done, a normal comb or brush can be used for styling. This practice can reduce the risk of hair fall to a great extent.

2. Avoid combing wet hair

Do not to comb the hair while it is wet as this leads to greater chances of hair breakage and fall. Let it be dry or semi-dry before combing.

3. Rough-toweling wet hair

Do not rub your hair vigorously with towel. This will only lead to unwanted hair breakage. Use the towel instead to gently soak out excess moisture.

4. Clean combs regularly

Make it a practice to clean your comb regularly. On taking a closer look at your comb you will find that your comb becomes dirty with use over time. Using a dirty comb can also be a reason for hair fall. Just as we need to wash our hair regularly, we need to wash our combs regularly too.

5. Oil your hair regularly

Oiling will enhance and retain the natural beauty of your hair. Natural oils such as coconut, olive, canola, jojoba, sesame etc. can be used to massage the scalp for countering hair fall and encouraging new hair growth. Warm the oil by heating it and make sure that it’s not too hot but bearable, gently massage your scalp using your fingers or even a cotton ball may be used. Leave it on for about 1 hour and rinse off using a mild shampoo.

6. Choose your shampoo wisely

Pick shampoos that are sulfate, silicone and paraben-free to avoid loading the scalp and hair with harsh chemicals that can damage hair, making it brittle and prone to breakage.

7. Wash your hair regularly

Dirty hair is more likely to get infected and more likely to fall- so keep your hair clean. Wash your hair at least every 3 days to remove all accumulated dust, dirt, oil and bacterial build up. When you shampoo your hair concentrate on the scalp and hair roots. When applying a conditioner or a hair lotion, concentrate on the ends of your hair.

8. Avoid frequent styling treatments

Do not subject your hair to frequent chemical treatments, excessive blow drying, ironing and coloring. Chemicals treatments designed to drastically change the way your hair look (perming, straightening, hot ironing) can permanently damage your hair.

9. Avoid hairstyles that pull hair back tightly

Hair styles such as wearing tight ponytails, pigtails or braids on a daily basis, using elastics and rubber bands to pull back hair tightly can cause hair fall.

10. Diet check

Eat healthy to minimize and prevent hair fall. Iron-rich foods that are rich in zinc, Vitamins A, B complex, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, omega-3 fatty acids and proteins should be consumed to overcome these deficiencies, add moisture to your hair, leading to a healthier scalp, lesser hair fall and fewer split ends .

11. Practice meditation

Believe it or not, most of the times, the root cause for hair fall is stress and tension. Meditation can help in reducing that and restore hormonal balance.

12. Antioxidants

Apply warm green tea (two bags brewed in one cup of water) on your scalp and leave this mixture on for an hour and then rinse. Green tea contains antioxidants which prevent hair loss and boost hair growth.

13. Natural juices

You can rub your scalp with either garlic juice, onion juice or ginger juice. Leave it on overnight and wash it thoroughly in the morning.
