5 Ways to Get Rid of That Hickey

Things got heated up between you and your man and before you could catch your breath, he sucked your neck a little too hard, leaving you with a little mark of his love.

Hickey, love bite or kiss mark is actually a kind of bruise. They result from kissing or sucking the skin too hard, causing broken capillaries and pooling blood that turns the skin red or purple. The mark can last for a few days to weeks. It gets quite embarrassing when other people see the mark. You can try to hide them using your hair or scarves but the best thing would be to get rid of them.

Here are a few ways by which you can just make the process of mark fading away quick.

1. Cold Spoon

Place a spoon in the refrigerator for 8-10 mins and then lightly stroke it over the hickey. The cold will help minimize the blood seeping out of the vessels into the skin, though this is most effective when hickey is not a few hours old.

2. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera being a natural moisturizer heals the affected area. Apply aloe vera gel to your hickey twice a day for about 10 mins and wipe it off. This will soothe the area and help in speedy recovery.

3. Banana Peel

Who knew a banana peel could be of so much help. The inside of a banana peel acts as a cooling treatment and shrinks the hickey. Just remove the peel from a ripe banana and place the inside of the peel onto your hickey for about 10-15 minutes. Do this 2-3 times a day and say goodbye to your hickey!

4. Warm Compress

If your hickey is still there even after 3-4 days it is better to do a hot compress on it. This will allow new blood to circulate throughout the area, breaking up the old blood that has made your hickey visible.

5. Toothbrush

Use a toothbrush with super soft bristles which will stimulate blood circulation. Move your brush in different directions with little pressure so that clotted blood has room to spread. Do this for around 5-10 mins.

Note: The effectiveness of these methods may vary from person to person depending on how dark the hickey is.
