Shocking!! Reports have been doing rounds about Rowan Atkinson’s death on the internet. According to them, the actor who is known for his role as Mr. Bean has committed suicide and is no more.
Don’t believe any such reports as this is a cruel online hoax that claims he has died. Disgusting, we know.
Reasons for his death have included suicide, and an attempt to save the life of a fellow actor on set.
The so-called “pranksters” even branded a memorial photo with the BBC logo in a bid to give the accusation credibility. Fans of the actor believed the hoax and quickly began to share the posts on Facebook.
The image has many errors and inconsistencies in itself:
- Atkinson’s birth year is given 1995. If true, that would make him 21.
- Atkinson’s age is given as 58. In reality, he’s 61, having been born in 1955.
- Nowhere, in any legitimate media, was it reported that Rowan Atkinson had killed himself.
The false claim was not meant to inform the readers, but it is obviously a scam, according to the media outlet Snopes. Once the user clicks the website, the reader will be redirected to a particular site that will attempt to gain personal information.
Rowan is currently believed to be alive and well alongside his wife of 26 years Sunetra Sastry, and their two children Lily and Benjamin.
