The Man who Leaked ‘Udta Punjab’ has Finally Been Caught!

The Cyber Crime Police has finally arrested the person who was involved in the illegal uploading of Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer Udta Punjab on the internet.

The arrested person has been identified as Dipak Kumar (25) who was nabbed by the police from Mumbai on Wednesday. Kumar who hails from Delhi was traced by the police team who recently went to the capital for a visit based on the information available to them during the probe. Well, he is the man who gave Anurag Kashyap sleepless nights!

According to the police, after getting confirmed information regarding Kumar’s involvement in the leak, he was taken into custody. , the film’s copy was leaked on the internet on June 15 and related film sites and went viral on a large scale, enabling users to download it illegally.

The movie which was illegally uploaded by Kumar on torrent was downloaded on a very large scale. He is taken into custody as per the complaint lodged by the legal teams of the production houses of Udta Punjab, police is interrogating Dipak and are likely to get more leads on the same.
Here’s the official statement of the crime branch officer:

“Preliminary interrogation of Kumar revealed that two separate links of websites of Torrent were made by user robby007. On downloading the movie, it was revealed that the first censor copy of the movie was stolen and was uploaded on Torrent. Our probe revealed that website allzmovies.in had uploaded the links on the websites.”

He added:

“We are probing whether someone from the team associated with the movie or with the censor board had helped Kumar with the leaked copy. As per the doubts raised by the production team in their complaint, the members of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) are allegedly involved behind the copy leak since the leaked version had “FOR CENSOR’ notice on it.”

“We believe that there are more persons who are responsible for committing the crime and after diligent efforts and investigations we have arrested Kumar. The accused professionally and illegally uploads the movies on the internet along with social media and makes it viral by preparing links with downloading options. He has uploaded pirated movies on the internet in the past. We are still investigating the case and our inquiries with the censor board and production teams is in process,” said deputy commissioner of police, Cyber Crime, Sachin Patil.

After the film went viral on internet, the film fraternity criticised the leak and requested viewers to watch the film in theatres.
