6 Relationship Myths, Busted!

Relationships could be very tricky, it could make you the happiest person on earth or just that much gloomy! Don’t be a victim of “make- believe” facts about relationships!  Remember, what anybody can provide you with, is just a suggestion. Be the decision maker.

You can’t stop loving or wanting to love because when it’s right, it’s the best thing in the world. When you’re in a relationship and its good, even if nothing else in your life is right, you feel like your whole world is complete. But, that completeness, that happiness should start with you.

“So many people prefer to live in drama because it’s comfortable. It’s like someone staying in a bad marriage or relationship – it’s actually easier to stay because they know what to expect every day, versus leaving and not knowing what to expect.”- Ellen DeGeneres. Well, truer words have never been spoken!

To help you make an informed decision, we have provided you with 6 myths that we busted today!

1. A great relationship depends on great meeting of minds:

Celebrate differences. Remember there will be times when you have to go through a tough situation. It’s always productive to have someone who doesn’t complete your sentences. Having someone with a different perspective on life could be very helpful.

Remember when you ask for strength and solutions from the universe, it won’t provide you with strength instantly. It will provide you with the situations to become strong. Always be positive and keep an open line for communication at all times.

2. If I don’t miss my partner when he or she is away, I must not really love him or her:

Missing someone doesn’t measure fondness always. It is okay to have some time out for yourself. Let yourself grow as an individual. Relationships are great, but don’t ever let it constraint your growth as an individual. Explore life, get creative. Start what you have never started; finish what you have never ended.

3. “If you’re truly in love, passion will never fade,” Orbuch said:

Passion is just passion. The moment you start explaining it, it becomes just another word. You are not a child anymore, so it’s time you realize that nothing actually stays the same for a long time. Remember to choose a life partner not just a lover.

Consistency is only a phase of change! Falling in love is just a stage, and it’s impossible to remain in that stage. It is very important to experience different aspects of life, while you are standing firm for each other.

4. A good relationship means that you don’t have to work at it:

The moment you stop working, the relationship stops working! It’s not a living thing that it will start feeding itself; it’s a world you have created for yourself. So, never ever stop working on yourself and on your relationship. Nothing is what you want it to be and probably that is the reason why we have to put in our best efforts to make it so.

A relationship requires a lot of work and commitment. So, the best you can do, is give your best.

5. Your relationship can only become great, if you straighten your partner out:

What does that even mean? In short, you want to change your partner. I mean what’s the point? It’s just as absurd as, you are buying oranges and expecting it to turn into an apple someday! The answer is as simple as that. If you want apples, go and buy apples.

Be courageous to accept, it takes a lot to accept everything a person has to offer. You don’t develop courage by being happy in your relationships everyday. You develop it by surviving difficult times and challenging adversity.

6. If I experience any doubt in my relationship, I’m with the wrong partner:

This question could actually take you either way. Being doubtful could actually work as a driving force for you, which would ultimately lead you towards betterment. A little insecurity, a little doubt could be healthy, if and only if; you channelize your anger towards becoming a better person for yourself. Be the benefactor of your own doubts!

But, in the end remember, there are no hard and fast rules that would help you survive a relationship. Cherish the uniqueness of your love story!

Always keep your heart open to love, to newer possibilities. Love could be just around the corner, you just have to see it.

Be open, and experience the mesmerizing beauty of love!
