Twitter Plans To Expand Its 140-Character Limit To 1000

The popular micro-blogging site Twitter is planning to expand the 140-character limit of its tweets to 1000, sources revealed. As reported by Re/code, users will soon be able to share longer tweets.
The 140-character limit has already been removed from the Direct Messages. There have been discussions about removing things like links and user handles from the count. There have also been talks of not having any limit on the length of the tweets, multiple sources say. However, the complete clarity about the matter is yet to be verified.

CEO Jack Dorsey expressed the need for Twitter to reach a more mainstream audience, and hinted about expanding the character limit on Twitter.
