Vacation date approaching and you’re fighting back your urge to carry your whole closet with you. We know firsthand how challenging and for (most) women almost irresistible this urge is:

“You never know, I might need that 18th t-shirt you cry out in your defense.”

But do you really? Going on a 6-day trip means that if your tshirts are double-digit you need to reevaluate your packing skills.

Don’t worry though, following these tips will leave room in your luggage for bringing back souvenirs and still allow be confident that you have enough outfits to last you for the whole vacation.

A neutral streamlined palette

That means

your favorite LBD dress,

blue jeans,

basic shorts and blouses.

This already gives you at least three nights’ outfits. Unbreakable rule: Don’t take anything that’s new, or never been worn- you know you will be reaching for familiar items you feel comfortable with.

This also means you should definitely pack those 3 summer dresses you’ve been practically living in all summer!

Shoes, bags and accessories

The three items rule applies here: flip-flops for the beach, flat sandals for touring and walks, a pair of high heels for nights out.

As for bags, be honest, all you need is your beach bag, a glamorous goes-with-everything little purse and a versatile carryall bag for afternoon sightseeing and a shopping!

Since you will be sticking with the three-items rule, in the accessories section you’re allowed to go big (you deserve it for showing so much restrain!). Since you clothing palette will be limited to earthy pastels, you can liven up your outfits with overstating, bulky accessories.

Being organized is key when it comes to travelling light

Be creative

Packing light ultimately boils down to how creative you are fashion-wise. Picking an airy white dress that can be worn as a dress (what else!) but can easily be stuffed into a pair of shorts for a fresher, second day outfit.

Or that bodycon little black dress which you can dress up for a clubbing spree and the next day wear with a vintage tee on top making it part of a two-piece outfit.

Extra Space Saving Tips

Scavenge your luggage for secret storage places.

Take a canvas tote bag for all those souvenirs you know won’t fit in your luggage anyhow!

Don’t fold clothes, roll them making little cylinders for saving space and ironing time!

Take washable clothing items that you can hand wash if such a need arises

Double check if your clothing choices properly coordinate!

Anything but travel size toiletries are strictly forbidden! That includes your perfume as well!
