Little things that you skip might not seem such a big deal, but they are breeding millions of bacteria, making it a house of diseases. Here are very small steps that you generally missed, but should keep a check on from now on!

1. Rolling your mat and leaving it until next class

While we exercise, we sweat, smell and our body produces many bacteria; and using this mat without cleaning will cause acne, allergies, yeast infections and what not. You should clean it regularly for good sanitation.

2. Not changing after workout

sweaty clothes
While in the gym, you touch plenty of machines which are touched by 1000’s of other people with dirty hands. You sit and lie on those machines and get all of that dirt on your clothes. Not changing those clothes will only make it worse for you. You should take a shower and change immediately after you’re done with your workout.

3. Going for sauna/spa barefoot

We don’t know what all lies on the floors of public washrooms. And going barefoot is a big no-no. Flip flops are a must when using public washrooms/locker rooms.

4. Using your hands instead of towel to wipe your sweat

towel
Make sure you carry your towel in the gym, as cleaning sweat with your hands and then touching your face, eyes with the same hands, is like breeding of more and more bacteria. Not at all cool.

5. Using someone else’s water bottle

Carrying a water bottle at the gym might be a nuisance but it’s better than getting some other type of bacteria by touching the stuff that is available for everyone. Apparently, there are millions of bacterial cells on all the water bottles and water dispensers that you have in the gym.
