Why Pillow Talks Render Psychoanalysis Redundant

Pillow Talks For Everyone

Pillow talks mark the beginning of unlikely friendships, or the onset of great fights. You know it’s a pillow talk the moment darkness becomes your friend, allowing you to confess your wildest emotions and admit to your most egotistical actions.

It’s confessional, anonymous, heartwarming and safe. But it can so easily take the wrong turn; you might get misunderstood, your words twisted and on comes the big fight! Nonetheless if you ever partook in a pillow talk you know how therapeutic it can be; who needs a shrink when you got a pillow talker available?

No judgment

Pillow talks are adults’ excuse for being childish (in a good way). Behind closed doors and turned-off lights, we take the courage to be vulnerable again, unafraid of judgment and scolding. Pillow talks magically transform us into better individuals; the conspicuous absence of light translates into a lack of condescension and criticism. For once, we are free to be ourselves, free to voice that ridiculous thought, free to spell out that immensely ridiculous idea.

If all else fails, you can always turn that pillow talk into a pillow fight

Words acquire different meanings, more humane ones, meanings that are sympathetic and nonjudgmental. Being face to face with your partner, your friend, your sister is an entirely intense moment. Walls are demolished and defenses incapacitated. Good pillow talks can soothe, cure and improve all situations and problems. They can connect and mend wounds; done right they save you from the vicious circle of therapy.

Freedom of Speech

For some people pillow talks are their only outlet for expressing endearments, for others it’s a self-cathartic process, in which thoughts get articulated and ideas voiced, occasionally for another person to hear, or for oneself to hear and believe in them.

Pillow talk is one of those seemingly trivial luxuries each individual has access to. It costs you nothing to just be there for the person next to you. Perhaps their fears are the same as yours. Perhaps you share the same dream. It’s time to share, time for pillow talk!
