Whenever there is a hush-hush or a hurriedly solemnized wedding in the Bolly town followed by pregnancy news, it leaves media and everyone else speculating if the hurriedly performed wedding was a cover-up.
Here’s a look at the celebrities who got married either secretly, or in a hurried fashion to simply cover their pregnancy news.
1. Sridevi
Sridevi, the only celebrity to publicly claim that she was pregnant with her elder daughter before marriage to Boney Kapoor, was around seven months pregnant when she got married. Boney Kapoor, at that time, was married to his first wife. After the former couples’ divorce, Boney Kapoor and Sridevi got married and their daughter was born just a few months later.
2. Konkana Sen Sharma
Konkona Sen Sharma married co-actor Ranveer Shorey in a private ceremony at her residence in the year 2010 after they dated for a long time. She gave birth to a boy early in 2011, which indicated that she was pregnant before tying the knot. The marriage too was announced hastily, which made way for further speculation.
3. Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar conceived while she was dating British filmmaker Joe Wright. The sitarist got pregnant in August 2010 and tied the knot a month later.
4. Amrita Arora
Malaika Arora’s sister Amrita Arora’s marriage announcement came as shocking news since no reports of dating had earlier been heard of. It was well understood that she was pregnant and therefore decided to go for marriage with businessman boyfriend Shakeel Ladak in a private ceremony. The baby announcement was soon enough to make the world guess what happened.
5. Celina Jaitley
Miss India Universe Celina Jaitley dated husband Peter Haag, a Dubai-based hotelier, for quite some time before getting married with him. Jaitley was pregnant with her twin boys much before marriage. After her sudden marriage she announced her pregnancy. Her twin sons were born few months later.
6. Sarika
Sarika was Kamal Hasan’s second wife whom he dated while being married to his first wife. He later got a divorce from her to be with Sarika. Sarika got pregnant with her first child Shruti Hasan when they were dating and living together. Sarika and Kamal Hasan married much later and later gave birth to their second daughter Akshara.
7. Mahima Chaudhary
Mahima Chaudhary married Bobby Mukherjee in a much private wedding ceremony in the year 2006. Reportedly she was pregnant at the time of her wedding. Her baby announcement too came as quick as her marriage announcement. She soon gave birth to her baby daughter.
8. Veena Malik
Who doesn’t remember her racy scenes with Asmit Patel suring her stint in the Big Boss house? The controversy queen Veena Malik got pregnant before she married Dubai based businessman and the child was rumoured to be that of her ex boyfriend but there has been no proof as to that report. She suddenly got married and rubbished all scandals and speculations that did the rounds.
9. Mona Abegaonkar
Actress Mona Abegaonkar delivered a baby girl, out of wedlock. Reports suggests that Mona was seeing Dayanand Shetty on the sets of a TV show CID.
10. Neena Gupta
Neena Gupta‘s short lived affair with West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards in the 80s made her pregnant. She delivered daughter Masaba and raised her as a single mother.
11. Nargis
Nargis and Raj Kapoor acted together in a number of movies and their affair was the talk of the town. It was even said that the famous actress Dimple Kapadia was actually the love-child of the famous pair.
