Hindu leaders are upset over comparison of the villain in the X-Men: Apocalypse and Lord Krishna. On December 11, the trailer of X-Men: Apocalypse was released, in which the villain, Apocalypse, was compared to Lord Krishna. In the scene, Apocalypse say, “I have been called many things over many lifetimes — Ra, Krishna, Yahweh.” Also, the villain is shown to have blue skin like Krishna.

Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, who is the president of Universal Society of Hinduism in the United States, has released a statement that blames X-Men: Apocalypse for hurting religious sentiments.
Such trivialisation of Lord Krishna, who is highly revered in Hinduism, is quite inappropriate and disturbing to the devotees. Lord Krishna was meant to be worshipped in temples or home shrines, not for pushing movies for the mercantile greed of filmmakers,” the statement read.

Rajan Zed has suggested director Bryan Singer to delete all references to Lord Krishna from the trailer as well as the final movie, unless those were true to the scriptures.

Zed said “Inappropriate usage of Hindu deities or concepts for commercial or other agenda was not okay as it hurt the devotees and confused non-Hindus about Hinduism.”
X-Men: Apocalypse will be releasing on May, 2016. You can watch the trailer here:
