WOMAN CONVICT DIES AFTER JAILER INSERTS LATHI INTO PRIVATE PARTS. In a shocking incident, a female convict in the Byculla Jail, Mumbai, Manjula Shete died after the jailers beat her and inserted a ‘lathi’ into her private parts. Jailors of Byculla prison in Mumbai beat up convict Manjula Shetye, 38, brutally for complaining about two eggs and five pieces of pav (bread) missing from morning ration, says the first information report filed by the police on the basis of an eyewitness account.
It all started at 9 am on June 23. Manjula was made warden of her barracks because of her good behavior, found that the food that they get fell short by two eggs and five pieces of bread.
Manjula was called to the jail officer Manisha Pokhara’s private room. The witness told police officers who are investigating the murder that she heard Manjula screaming in pain and torture. Manjula came back to the barrack in a while and was visibly in extreme pain. The witness said that soon a group of jailorss came to the barracks and tortured Manjula once again. The witness said Manjula was stripped by women constables she identified as Bindu Naikade, Waseema Shaikh, Shital Shegaonkar, Surekha Gulve and Aarti Shingne. The witness also said Bindu and Surekha then held Manjula’s legs apart and Waseema inserted the lathi into her private parts.
Is this the justice of our so called respectable police officers? She was a prisoner but before that, she was a woman. This whole incident has triggered the questions on humanity and law, once again!
