When It Gets Tough!!

Every day you come to work, and you want to scream. Your co-workers are douche bags who will throw you under the bus to get ahead, and in turn, you have become that way towards them as well. The only problem is that this job (and industry) pays a lot of money, provides you with the opportunity to travel around the world, and puts you on the fast track to ‘management’. Your friends are all jealous of you.
The worst part? The names are great on your resume, and that’s the only reason you are doing it now.

1. Consider strongly taking the job at the rival company that pays more. Even though the people at that company are probably douchebags and back-stabbers, as well, they are new douchebags. The level of resentment is not the same. There is always a honeymoon period. And the money is better.

Wondering what all it takes!

2. Have an escape plan. Save, save, save money, as much as you can. Another reason why you should take the other job. More money to sock away. If one day you decide, “I truly cannot endure this one more fucking second,” you will have some dough.

3. Never stop enjoying the non-work parts of your life. There is hardly anyone who is 100% fulfilled by work, no matter how much they love it.
4. Choose your next place based on the people you meet, not the product or the company. A product and even a company (or your part of a company) is far more malleable than the people with whom you must work for hours.

You should realize that this is, as far as you know, your one and only life, and that the getting of money — especially money that flows from work you don’t care about, in the company of people you don’t like — isn’t what it’s about.
