Eggs: Every Foodie’s First Love

Be it the regular omelette or sunny side up in an English Breakfast, or hard boiled during lunch, eggs have become a regular component of meals. An easy to make item which goes with any dish. So why confine yourself to the regular version when you can try the wackier styles of preparing the egg?

1. Egg Chaat

You can prepare by making a punch of salad and egg. Cut boiled eggs in long slices, add cucumber , tomato, carrots and lettuce. Squeeze lime and enjoy.

2. Egg Bhurji

A desi version of the scrambled egg. This Mumbai style dish is made in the same way as scrambled egg. But use butter and cheese during the preparation. A delicious combo!!

3. Mushroom Egg

Finely dice up onions, mushroom, green chillies, and coriander leaves. Beat the egg. Heat oil in a pan and add the onions and mushroom. Fry till golden brown and add chillies and coriander. Saute for a minute and turn off the heat. Put it aside. Add some more oil to the empty pan and pour the egg batter. Add the fried onions and mushroom. Fry them together. Serve it hot.

5. Baked eggs

Brush the sides of a small baking bowl with butter. Add masala, tomato and mushroom. Crack and add the egg on it. Sprinkle shredded cheese and bake for 10-13 mins at 180 degrees.

6. Fried egg

Try it a new way. Boil the egg. Make a batter of ‘besan’ (gramflour), or biscuit powder. Coat the egg with the batter and deep fry in oil.

7. Egg Oats Upma

Heat oil in a pan. Add coriander seeds. Add chillies, onions and garlic and fry till brown. Add a combo of veggies- carrots, peas, corn, capsicum. Cover with lid and let them cook on a low heat for a few minutes. Add oats, salt, turmeric powder and garam masala. Stir it from time to time. The moisture lost from the veggies is enough for the oats to get cooked.
