At a private hospital in Kozhikode, a 26-year-old man had to undergo an emergency surgery after his genitals were allegedly chopped off by his lover. The assault took place at a lodge at Kuttippuram Town in the district on Thursday, said police.
The police took the 30-year-old woman into custody. They both were reportedly in a relationship from past 2 years. During the interrogation, the woman had confessed of having used a small knife to attack the man.
However, the victim, Irshad from Purathur said in a statement to police that he himself inflicted the injury on his private parts. The couple had booked a room at the lodge on Wednesday while the incident took place on Thursday morning with Irshad running out of the room and being taken to hospital by the lodge staff, said the police.
The woman, who hails from Muvattupuzha, is a divorcee and has been in a relationship with the man for the past two-and-half years.
The police added that Irshad had married her secretly and the marriage was registered under the Special Marriages Act. The cops suspect that Irshad was planning to get married to another girl, which could have provoked the woman.
