Loyalty doesn’t come easy these days. No matter how compatible two people are in a relationship, they still are dealing with infidelity. But have you ever wondered why men cheat? Is it just fun and games for them, or is there a real reason behind male infidelity? Various sex and relationship experts researched on the topic “What makes men cheat?”, and found out the reasons. Here are some of their findings:
1. Disturbances in the relationship
According to most men, regular fights and unresolved issues in their relationships makes them cheat. Though the fights affect both men and women equally, but men prefer to flee from dealing with the issues in the relationship.
2. Their libido needs a boost
After a certain period in a relationship, things start to feel more comfortable, which isn’t a bad thing. But men always need that newness, and therefore go elsewhere to find it.
3. Lack of will power
Relationship experts say that most men are just plain weak. They are not strong enough to say no if they get an opportunity.
4. They think they can get away with it
If a man cheats once and his partner doesn’t find out, he starts to think that he will never get caught. And that leads him to be a repeat offender.
5. Peer pressure
Yes, this is one of the major reasons why men cheat. When a man spends a lot of time in the company of people who cheat on their partners, he succumbs to peer pressure and cheats to be a part of the crowd.
6. They love to experiment sexually
Men crave for variety and new experiences. While there are some men who are content with their partners, other men prefer to experiment. They love to sleep with more women, even if they love their girlfriends/wives. Yeah, this is ridiculously lame, but it perhaps makes them feel sexually powerful and more adept than others.
7. Cheating men have a history of extra marital relationships
Some guys witness cheating in their parent’s marriage in their childhood. This somewhere gives them a message that it is okay to cheat, even though deep inside they know this is wrong.
8. To boost his ego
Infidelity is an ego boost for some men. This mostly happens in cases in which the man is either less successful/earns less money than his partner, or is not great looking. These men have low self esteem and they cheat to boost up their ego.
9. Revenge
Though revenge cheating is more with women than with men, sometimes a man will cheat to get back a wife or girlfriend who cheated on him.
10. To participate in certain sexual acts
Some men have sexual fantasies that they can’t tell their women about, or they simply know that their wives/girlfriend won’t perform the acts they want. Such men cheat to fulfil their fantasies.
