Gone are the days when one had to pick up a flagship mobile to get the best performances or highest specs. With the smartphone boom in India, the budget segment has suddenly heated up and every manufacturer is trying to give the best specs is a sub 15k smartphone.

These smartphones do the trick.

1. Moto G4 Plus

Motorola launched the fourth generation of its G series some time back. moto G4 Plus is the first smartphone of the company to sport a fingerprint sensor; it is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM. The device comes with 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card. The phone is exceptional when it comes to handling daily tasks and multiple apps at the same time. 2. YU Yunicorn

This is the new brand by the Micromax-owned company YU. Yunicorn comes with a fingerprint sensor and 4GB RAM. For high-end performance, the smartphone houses an octa-core MediaTek MT6755 processor. All kind of apps were run on the smartphone and was tried to stress it out on our test bench (including everything from photos, document editing apps to demanding games). The phone did stutter once or twice, but the 4GB RAM was able to save the day on most occasions. As far as display and battery life are concerned, this one too has a 5.5-inch touchscreen along with a 4,000 mAh battery(which lasts for a day).

3. Xiaomi Redmi Note 3

Xiaomi might be a Chinese company, but it has amazed the most spectacular specs smartphones at an affordable price. It has a Snapdragon 650 1.8 GHz hexacore CPU. To give an extra kick to the smartphone the company has embedded 3GB RAM and 32 GB storage on it. Together they make the toughest of apps run with ease. The rest of the pack has octa-core CPUs and this one has hexacore, which makes one think that gaming performance would be hindered. But to surprise, this phone performed really well there too. The cherry on the cake is the 5.5 inches full HD screen that has lively colors and makes everything look good.

4. Asus Zenfone Max

After making PC components, Asus is now a name to reckon with in the smartphone business too. A good example is the Zenfone Max with its large 5.5-inch touchscreen. The smartphone has a massive 5,000 mAh battery, which lasts for almost two days. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. As for storage, it has 32GB inbuilt storage; users can expand it up to 64GB using a micro SD card. The handset handled all the graphic intensive games thrown at it very well and also excelled during multitasking.

5. Lenovo ZUK Z1

ZUK is a sub-brand of Lenovo, like YU of Micromax. This smartphone came to India a little late, but it is still a beast when it comes to performance. ZUK Z1 is powered by a quad-core 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 3GB RAM and 64GB of internal memory. Switching between apps and loading the most complex apps was child’s play for this phone. Built to impress, it has a large 5.5-inch display, which makes videos and games pleasurable.
