The game Pokemon Go is out for a long time now and reports against the game are flooding every day. This time, Gujarat has come up with a new issue stating that the game is hurting religious sentiments of certain people.
Many Hindus and Jains follow a strict vegetarian diet and are offended by the fact that virtual eggs in the game are appearing in places of worship.
Pokemon Go is such that you catch virtual eggs and incubate them from time to time. The more you walk, the faster you incubate your virtual egg. Once the egg is hatched, a Pokemon is added to your mighty collection which also gives you points or XP.
The game uses augmented reality and mapping to make gaming visuals appear in the real world, overlaid on the landscape seen through the player’s cell phone cameras. Though the game hasn’t been officially released in India, it’s available directly on Google.
“The points are in the form of eggs. These appear at the current location, which is many times the places of worship of different religious groups. We’re seeking a ban on the game in India” the petitioner’s lawyer Nachiket Dave said.
It seems like India is obsessed with their religious values so much that they just can’t take a game in a healthy way!
